James is Minister of State (Minister for Europe) at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). He was appointed on 8 February 2022.
James was first appointed as a joint Minister of State (Minister for the Middle East and North Africa) in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development on 13 February 2020.

Speaking in Prime Minister’s Questions, James Cleverly calls on the PM to highlight the very real connection between recreational drug usage and gangs and knife crime which is doing so much damage to young people on our streets.
James Cleverly speaks in a debate on the Third Reading of the Private Member’s Bill to outlaw Female Genital Mutilation and calls on the Government send a clear message the religious and cultural sensitivities cannot and must not be used as a shield to hide behind when practices such as this are being discussed.
