James Cleverly took part in a chess competition and secured £500 for charity PARC Essex.
The charity speed chess challenge was sponsored by Homes for Later Living and took place at the Conservative Party conference.
James took the challenge of playing against Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s special adviser Jamie Njoku-Goodwin, a former champion chess player.
James said
“Despite my best efforts I was beaten by Jamie in under three minutes. However, despite losing the game I am delighted that I did win £500 for local charity, Parc Essex.”
All of the MPs who played got £500 for the charity of their choice, while Jamie Njoku-Goodwin donated to a schools chess charity.
