Rural Crime Summit

On Friday James Cleverly attended the Essex Rural Crime Summit, led by PFCC Roger Hirst and Deputy Chief Constable of Essex Police, Andy Prophet.

The Summit was attended by representatives from Parish, District, and County Council, along with landowners and farmers - and presentations given by the Rural Engagement Team, the Fire Service and reporting management and call handling from Essex Police.

James said:

“I was updated on progress and ongoing challenges including; hare coursing, unauthorised encampments, plant and equipment theft, and fly tipping as well as unique issues of reporting rural crime.

“There is more to do, but it’s clear that Essex Police are working hard to tackle Rural Crime and are bringing it down.”
